Crew Cab vs. Quad Cab vs. Regular Cab: What’s the Difference?

The RAM 1500 is a perfect fit if you’re in need of a light-duty pickup truck loaded with power and efficiency that can tow a boat or trailer around Chatham, whereas the RAM 2500 or 3500 is better suited for drivers looking for a heavy-hauler that can handle commercial loads in Jacksonville or tow an RV to Taylorville.

Regular Cab vs. Quad Cab vs. Crew Cab
RAM trucks are available in three truck cab styles to match your needs. What are the differences between crew cab, quad cab, and regular cab? We’re glad you asked! Let’s break down each style:
What is a Regular Cab?
The Regular cab style features two doors and the option of a three-seater bench or two bucket seats. Available with a 6-foot-4-inch bed or an 8-foot bed, you’ll get maximum towing capacity out of a Regular cab. The Regular cab is available on all RAM trucks. Regular cabs provide:
- Higher towing capacity due to less overall weight
- Minimal passenger seating
- Practical cargo dimensions
If you’re looking to get work done without bringing along multiple passengers, a Regular cab should suit you just fine.
What is a Quad Cab?
The Quad cab has four doors, though the rear access doors are notably smaller than the front doors. Offering seating for up to six and exclusively available with a 6-foot-4-inch bed, the Quad cab is only available on RAM 1500 models. As a smaller and lighter option to the crew cab, quad cabs offer:
- More cargo capacity than from a crew cab
- Equal passenger capacity as a crew cab
- Higher efficiency scores
- Lower starting MSRP
If cargo capacity is more important to you than passenger space, the Quad cab may be the right fit.
What is a Crew Cab?
The Crew cab also has four doors, and the rear doors are full sized, offering a spacious back seat. The Crew cab also seats six passengers and provides more rear legroom. The Crew cab is available with either a 5-foot-7-inch bed or a 6-foot-4-inch bed. Crew cabs provide:
- More legroom but at the sacrifice of cargo space
- More interior comforts and amenities
- Larger rear doors, creating easier hauling options for large items
If you have a larger family who enjoys more interior comfort and space, a Crew cab is a great choice.
