If the bumper-to-bumper warranty on your RAM vehicle is about to expire, you may be considering purchasing the RAM Extended Warranty, also known as the RAM Mopar® Vehicle Protection (MVP). The RAM extended warranty offers drivers the option to continue the coverage on their RAM vehicle after their initial warranty ends in Springfield. However, is the warranty worth it? And which extended warranty plan is right for you? 

The RAM Mopar® Vehicles Protection warranty comes in two plans provided by FIAT Chrysler Automobiles (the parent company for RAM): the Maximum Care Plan and the Added Care Plus Plan. The type of plan you choose is determined by how much you use your RAM vehicle and how you use it. The Maximum Care Plan

The RAM Maximum Care Plan is an exclusionary extended warranty, meaning that it covers everything except specific components and parts listed by the automaker. The parts and labor not covered by the Maximum Care Plan are as follows:

  • Maintenance services and the items used in those services
  • Glass and plastic lenses
  • Body and paint items, including soft trim
  • Wear items, such as manual clutch assembly, brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, and belts
  • Snowplows, winches, and trailer hitches

Overall, the Maximum Care Plan covers 5,000 components and items, including interior entertainment electronics, remote start systems, and much more. The Maximum Care Plan also comes in two terms, where the coverage will last for as long as the term you choose:

  • 2-8 years or 64,000 miles
  • 2-8 years or 125,000 miles

The coverage plan you choose will be determined by how much you use your vehicle and what you use it for in Chatham. Added Care Plus Plan

The Added Care Plus Plan is the other option for the RAM Mopar® Vehicle Protection Plan for Rochester drivers. The Added Plus Care Plan doesn’t have part exclusions, unlike the Maximum Care Plan. It extends the powertrain and component coverage on over 850 major components linked to:

  • Engine 
  • Transmission
  • Drive System
  • Steering
  • Air Conditioning
  • Brakes
  • Suspension
  • Electrical
  • Instrumentals 

Like the Maximum Care Plan, the Added Care Plus Plan comes with multiple coverage options:

  • 5 – 8 years or 60,000 miles
  • 5 – 8 years or 75,000 miles
  • 5 – 8 years or 85,000 miles
  • 5 – 8 years or 100,000 miles
  • 5 – 8 years or 125,000 miles

Additional Benefits

Both RAM warranty plans come with additional benefits for Decatur drivers that may help them decide whether or not the warranty plans are worth the additional cost each year. The RAM warranty additional benefits include:

Roadside Assistance ($100 cap per occurrence) 

  • Towing
  • Flat tire change (with a spare you provide)
  • A battery jump
  • Fuel delivery (up to two gallons)
  • Lockout services
  • $600 keyfob replacement and repair (Maximum Care Plan only)

Trip Interruption Policy 

  • Comes into effect if your trip is interrupted due to component failure covered under your care plan
  • Up to $1,000 for lodging and meals
  • Car rental expenses if your vehicle breaks down more than 100 miles from your home

If repairs take more than a day, both plans provide a $35 first day car rental allowance or taxi reimbursement for any dealership repair or maintenance service (not including bodywork). The rental, roadside assistance, towing allowance, and trip interruption benefits expire after 100,000 miles. 

Which Plan is Best For You?

Choosing between the Maximum Care Plan or the Care Plus Plan will depend on the type of RAM vehicle you have and how you use it. If you use your RAM frequently on the job site where component failure is more likely, then having a plan that covers your truck may be beneficial. If you spend a lot of time traveling, then the additional benefit of roadside assistance may give you more peace of mind while you’re on the road. If you mostly use your RAM to drive a daily commute or to drive between Litchfield and Springfield for errands, it may be an unnecessary expense for you. 

If you decide to choose a RAM extended warranty, there are a few things you should keep in mind:

  • You must purchase the extended warranty before your current vehicle warranty expires. 
  • Your extended warranty is transferable if you decide to sell your RAM.
  • If your RAM fails, it must be serviced at the dealer that sold you the plan. However, you can request service from another Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) dealer if you are unable to return to your original dealer.
