Lincoln Museum

The Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL takes up a whole city block downtown is the largest presidential museum with more than 50,000 square feet of exhibit space. It’s the first “experience museum” of its kind, using 21st century technology, education, storytelling, and live entertainment to bring the story of Lincoln to life. This is a great way for families to learn about our 16th President of the United States while having a fun day together.

Knights Action Park

What started out as a driving range evolved into a family fun park where you can all enjoy a variety of activities. There’s still a 50-tee driving range, but you can also challenge each other in the batting cages or on bumper boats. The 60-acre outdoor fun spot also feature go karts and the Route 66 Twin Drive In Theatre as well.

Springfield Children’s Museum

Another fun Springfield, IL museum is the Springfield children’s museum. The Kidzeum of Health and Science makes learning fun for the whole family! This museum offers tons of interactive displays where children can play and learn, which includes things like creating your own weather report, planting vegetables, playing in an eco-friendly playhouse, and more.

Go for a Family Hike or Ride

There are plenty of great spots in and around Springfield to go out for a nice bike ride or hike. Carpenter Park is a favorite for getting in some nature sightseeing, while the Springfield Parks Department has put together a long list of biking paths, including the Interurban Trail, Sangamon Valley Trail, Wabash Trail, and Lost Bridge Trail.
